“Just because I post half-naked pictures doesn’t mean I’m easy.”
In theory, sure. In reality, let’s stop acting like we don’t understand how people work.
Image influences perception. Always has. Always will. Whether it’s fair or not, doesn’t change the fact that what you put out publicly shapes how people see you. That isn’t misogyny, it’s basic social awareness.
You can do whatever you want with your body. No one is entitled to touch you, talk to you, or cross your boundaries. That part isn’t up for discussion. But autonomy doesn’t magically cancel perception. Intent doesn’t erase optics.
If someone consistently presents themselves in a highly sexualised way, it shouldn’t come as a shock when they’re approached sexually. That doesn’t make the approach right, but acting surprised by it is delusional. Cause and effect isn’t victim-blaming.
Dress like money, people assume wealth. Dress like authority, people assume control. Dress provocatively, people assume sexual openness. You don’t get to demand that the world ignores the image you’re actively putting on display.
What’s frustrating isn’t the choice, it’s the refusal to own it. Don’t pretend you’re being misunderstood when you’re being understood exactly as you’re presenting yourself.
Empowerment isn’t pretending consequences don’t exist. It’s knowing they do and choosing to do it anyway.
And before anyone twists this, perception never justifies disrespect. But pretending perception isn’t influenced by presentation just means your intellect is still buffering.
Say what you mean. Show what you show. Just don’t act confused when people respond accordingly.
