Rulebook?

Dating is simple, but people love to complicate it. Everyone’s got their own rulebook now. Wait this long before replying. Don’t double text. Don’t show too much interest. Pretend you’re busy even when you’re not.

Truth is, you should just do what you like with who you like. The only thing that matters is that you maintain a certain level of self-control and respect for yourself and the person you're talking to. That’s the line. You can enjoy someone’s company, be open, even fall a little, but never lose yourself or start begging for the bare minimum or someone’s attention.

Sometimes it’ll work out, sometimes it won’t, and that’s fine. Every situation doesn’t have to lead to something serious. The moment you start living by other people’s dating “rules,” you box yourself in and don’t allow yourself to have more interesting and eye opening experiences.

If they make you feel appreciated, and not like you’re forcing it or wasting your time, then go ahead and enjoy it. Laugh, link up, vibe, and let things flow naturally. Life’s already complicated enough. Dating doesn’t need to be too.
