Everyone’s got a story

What they went through, where their headspace is at, what messed them up, why they are the way they are. And yeah, some of it makes sense. People don’t just act like that without reason.

But people are still here dealing with you right now.

Not what happened before.

You’ll tell me you’ve been hurt before, cool, I hear it. But now you’re hurting me and somehow I’m supposed to just understand it and sit there like it cancels out.

It doesn’t.

At some point it stops being context and just becomes what you keep doing.

You were lied to, now you lie.
You were disrespected, now you disrespect.
You were done dirty, now you do people dirty.

Then when someone calls it out it’s “you don’t understand what I’ve been through.”

No, I understand. I just don’t accept it.

Because I’m the one dealing with what comes from it.

So what am I meant to do, just take it because life wasn’t fair to you before?

That doesn’t make sense.

You lie, that’s what I’m dealing with.
You act shady, that’s what I’m seeing.
You cross me, that’s what I have to respond to.

The reason might matter to you. The result is what hits me.

And people hate that because it sounds like you’re dismissing what they went through. You’re not. You’re just not letting it become your problem to carry.

Your past explains you. It doesn’t give you a pass to ruin someone else’s day.

At some point you either fix it or you keep passing it on.

And from me personally, I’m not here to keep paying for something I didn’t do.
